Nioxin System 2 Scalp + Hair Shampoo is a shampoo for natural hair with advanced thinning, designed to purify the scalp and support thicker-looking hair.

Product Description

Nioxin System 2 Scalp + Hair Shampoo is a daily shampoo developed for natural, untreated hair with advanced thinning. It cleanses the scalp and hair while helping to create the optimal conditions for fuller-looking strands. First, the formula removes excess sebum, impurities, and product residue. As a result, it helps prevent buildup that can clog hair follicles. In addition, this cleansing action supports a healthier scalp environment, which is essential for hair that appears thicker over time. Furthermore, the shampoo contains Niacinamide, Biotin, and Caffeine. Together, these ingredients help nourish the hair at the root and support follicle stimulation. Therefore, hair looks denser and more resilient with continued use.

The formula also includes Salicylic Acid. Because it gently exfoliates the scalp, it helps remove dead skin cells and excess oil. Meanwhile, Peppermint and Mentha arvensis Essential Oils provide a refreshing sensation and help stimulate scalp circulation. In addition, Peppermint Oil may help regulate oil production, which is important for maintaining scalp balance. Clinically and dermatologically tested, this shampoo supports visibly thicker hair in as little as 30 days when used as part of the System 2 routine. Moreover, it helps reduce hair breakage, so strands appear stronger and fuller. Over time, the scalp feels cleaner and refreshed, while hair gains improved body and volume.

In this section we answer frequently asked questions about Nioxin System 2 Scalp + Hair Shampoo

Which Nioxin System should I choose?

The right System depends on the condition of your hair and how far the thinning has progressed:

  • System 1 is indicated for natural, untreated hair with light thinning;
  • System 2 is indicated for natural, untreated hair with progressed thinning;
  • System 3 is indicated for damaged, dry, or color-treated hair with light thinning;
  • System 4 is indicated for damaged, dry, or color-treated hair with progressed thinning.

I used to use System 5 or 6. Were these discontinued? Which System should I use now?

Nioxin went from 6 systems to 4 to make it easier to navigate which one will help you meet your hair goals. Damaged, chemically processed, and color-treated hair types are now covered by the same systems. So, if you previously used System 5, the brand recommends using System 3. If you previously used System 6, the brand recommends using System 4.

What's the difference between progressive and reactive hair loss?

Progressive hair loss, also called chronic hair loss, has genetic and hormonal causes. It happens slowly, with hair getting gradually finer and less dense over the years, usually in specific areas.

Reactive hair loss can happen in response to a specific event, such as stress, illness, childbirth, a nutritional deficiency, certain medications, or a change of season. It tends to come on suddenly and all over the head, but hair usually grows back once the cause has passed.

When in doubt, consult your healthcare professional.
