What is adult acne?
Adult acne has multifactorial causes, most commonly hormonal imbalances such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or mechanical factors like repeated friction and pressure against the skin. In adult women, lesions tend to concentrate on the lower third of the face and the sides of the neck, with premenstrual flare-ups affecting around half of adult patients, and the skin is often more reactive, showing post-inflammatory erythema, pigmentation changes, and scarring.
