Manic Panic Classic High Voltage Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream provides vibrant hair color lasting 4 to 6 weeks.

Product Description

Manic Panic Classic High Voltage Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream is a semi-permanent hair color formula that has been delivering vibrant results since 1977. Requiring no developer and ready to use straight from the jar, this hair dye offers vivid and vibrant color. The color lasts 4 to 6 weeks, then fades gradually with each shampoo, allowing for a natural transition. Other than stripping or damaging the strand, this hair dye conditions as it colors, thanks to a fortified herbal and protein complex. And, because it comes in a resealable container, any unused product can be saved for touch-ups or future use, making it both practical and economical.

Characteristics

Manic Panic Classic High Voltage Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream offers color that lasts 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Semi-permanent hair dye;
  • Offers vivid and vibrant color;
  • Vegan;
  • Conditions the hair during the coloring process;
  • Free from PPD, ammonia, resorcinol, phthalate, and gluten;
  • No developer needed - ready to use straight from the jar.

Precautions

Hair colorations can cause allergic reactions, which can be severe. Manic Panic Classic High Voltage Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream can only be used on head hair. Application on other areas may cause serious reactions (allergies and burns, blindness if the product is used on the eyelashes and eyebrows). Always do an allergy test 48 hours before using the product, as well as a strand test.

Do not color your hair if:

  • You have a skin rash on the face or if your scalp is experiencing sensitivity, irritation, or is damaged.
  • You have already had a reaction after coloring your hair.
  • You have already had a reaction to a black henna temporary tattoo or have dyed your hair with henna.

How to use

  • For optimal results, this hair dye process should be performed on hair in good condition.
  • After a perm or a straightening treatment, it is advisable to wait for 2 to 3 weeks before coloring the hair and to perform a strand test before coloring the hair.
  • To prepare hair for a new application, allow your current color to fade naturally, use a clarifying shampoo such as Prepare to Dye, or use a color remover formulated for semi-permanent dyes. Do not bleach hair again before reapplication, as this pushes pigment deeper into the hair shaft and makes removal harder.
  • The amount of dye you need depends on your hair length: short hair above the jaw requires approximately one jar, shoulder-length hair requires around two jars, and waist-length hair requires around three jars. For thicker hair, add one extra jar and ensure hair is fully saturated for best results.
  • Have your hair pre-lightened to your desired level (if applicable). For intense, vibrant color, lightening hair to at least level 7+ blonde beforehand is recommended, though some shades will give colorful tints on dark hair without bleaching. Neons, UV shades, and pastels perform best on a pre-lightened base.

Preparation:

!! Safety Instructions !!

Carry out an allergy test on the skin, 48 hours before each use, even if you have colored your hair before. To do so, use a cotton swab to apply a small amount of coloring cream behind your ear. Do not touch, cover, or wash the area for 24 hours. If any sort of reaction occurs, remove the product immediately and do not use this hair dye.

To perform a strand test, choose a small strand of hair from the back of your head (somewhere easy to hide), and apply the hair dye. Wrap it in foil and leave for the recommended developing time. Then, rinse with cool water, dry, and check the results to decide if you’re happy with the texture and color of the hair. If the hair shows signs of damage, this could indicate that your hair is not healthy enough for the coloring process.

  • Make sure you have performed a patch test and strand test.
  • Grab the dye pot, gloves, a brush, a tint bowl, and a dark-colored towel or clothes you don't mind staining.
  • Wear disposable gloves throughout the entire coloring process.
  • Before applying, remove all jewelry from your hands and do not use any metallic object in or around your hair.
  • To avoid staining, apply petroleum jelly to the face contour, near the hairline, and on the ears.

Application
(on UNWASHED, DRY hair)

1. Mix your desired colours/amounts in your mixing bowl.

2. Section your hair clips, starting from the bottom.

3. Use your brush and your fingers to paint the colour onto your hair, making sure that each strand is completely saturated. Work in small sections.

4. Comb the colour through or rub it in with your fingers until frothy (this indicates that the dye has been fully absorbed).

5. Once all your hair is covered in dye, move it away from your face and leave it to sit. You can use a plastic cap to cover your head.

6. Leave the dye to develop for a minimum of 30 minutes.

7. Rinse with cold water until you no longer see any colour running down the drain.

8. Shampoo and condition the hair.

In this section we answer frequently asked questions about Manic Panic Classic High Voltage Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream

How many jars of Manic Panic Classic High Voltage do I need?

The number of jars you need depends on your hair length:
  • Short hair (above the jaw): approximately one jar;
  • Shoulder-length hair: around two jars;
  • Waist-length hair: around three jars.
For thicker hair, add one extra jar for best results.

How do I prepare my hair for a reapplication?

The brand recommends letting your current color fade naturally, washing with a clarifying shampoo like Manic Panic's Prepare to Dye, or using a color remover made for semi-permanent dyes. Avoid bleaching your hair again before reapplying, as this can drive pigment deeper into the hair shaft and make it harder to remove later.

Do I need to perform a strand test?

A strand test is recommended so you can see how your hair reacts to the dye before committing to your whole head. Pick a small, easy-to-hide strand from the back of your head and apply the dye. Wrap it in foil and leave it for the recommended developing time, then rinse with cool water, dry it, and check the results. This lets you judge whether you're happy with the color and texture. If the strand shows signs of damage, it may be a sign your hair isn't healthy enough for the coloring process just yet.

Do I need to perform an allergy test?

Yes. Carry out an allergy test on the skin 48 hours before each use, even if you have colored your hair before. To do so, use a cotton swab to apply a small amount of coloring cream behind your ear. Do not touch, cover, or wash the area for 24 hours. If any sort of reaction occurs, remove the product immediately and do not use this hair dye.

Is this product vegan?

According to the brand, this product has a vegan formula (does not contain ingredients of animal origin).
