SkinCeuticals Protect Oil Shield UV Defense SPF50 is a facial sunscreen that protects the skin from harmful UV radiation. Suitable for all skin types, this lightweight and residue-free product feels incredibly fresh and comfortable on the skin. Featuring an invisible texture with a dry touch and matte finish, the sunscreen looks just as good as it feels.
Containing broad-spectrum filters that create a protective shield against harmful UVA and UVB rays, the skin is efficiently protected after each application. In addition, silica silicate helps to absorb sebum and contributes to minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. In order to keep the skin safe from UV aggressions, it is important to apply sufficient product and also to reapply it throughout the day, especially after toweling, perspiring and swimming. As you apply it, you're not only protecting your skin from UV damage but also contributing to keeping it comfortable, looking good and matte.
Apply a generous amount of SkinCeuticals Protect Oil Shield UV Defense SPF50 onto the skin of the face and neck before sun exposure. Reapply every couple of hours, especially after toweling, perspiring and swimming.
In this section we answer frequently asked questions about SkinCeuticals Protect Oil Shield UV Defense Sunscreen SPF50 30ml (1.01fl oz)
Sunscreen gets its protective power from ingredients called sun filters, which fall into two groups. "Mineral" is the common name for inorganic filters, of which there are only two: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. "Chemical" is the common name for organic filters, which are carbon-based compounds and cover multiple different ingredients. A mineral sunscreen uses only inorganic filters, a chemical sunscreen uses only organic filters, and a sunscreen that combines both is known as a hybrid.
Both types of filters mainly protect the skin by absorbing UV radiation. Mineral filters, along with a few organic ones, also reflect a small portion of it.
SPF measures protection against UVB radiation. In the EU, the highest SPF on a cosmetic sunscreen label is SPF50+, which corresponds to the "very high protection" category and is used when the measured SPF is 60 or higher.
Some sunscreens, usually designed for specific skin conditions, are classified as medical devices rather than cosmetics, and these can show higher values, such as SPF100.
